peaceful living

Mary’s first career was as a fundraiser in higher education, where her listening skills helped people realize their dreams and helped her raise millions of dollars for the universities where she worked. She ended this fifteen-year career to begin work with the newly-formed Flagstaff Center for Compassionate Communication.

Mary’s guiding vision is to help people fully connect to themselves and their world so that they may experience more joy. Toward this end, she teaches Nonviolent Communication to children, adults, families, couples, and adolescents, and she works with organizations by offering individual or group workshops and facilitating organization-wide restructuring.

sedonaSharing NVC with others is one of the most powerful methods for deepening NVC consciousness.  The very process of helping someone else understand one of the concepts allows us to integrate our own understanding and heightens our awareness of how we are (or are not) living the concept ourselves.  In addition, facilitating NVC courses is a steady reminder of the NVC consciousness we want to live.  In a sense, by "giving it away" we get to keep it for ourselves.

However, sharing NVC has its own set of challenges and joys and calls on different skills.  This year long program is specifically designed to help people develop their skills in teaching NVC, to clarify and accentuate their individual style, and to love the process.  Your own ability to live in NVC consciousness will deepen as a result.

This program will support people with an intermediate understanding of NVC who want to improve their skills, ease and joy in facilitating NVC courses.  It is especially intended for people who are currently facilitating NVC groups and who long for community, support and collaboration.

Monthly Topics:

  • March – Setting our intention and clarifying the facilitator’s role
  • April – Creating safety and ease in your group and improving your tracking skills
  • May – Creating a workshop outline
  • June – Developing teaching activities
